Konnidas and Associates Law Firm is a member of the Hellenic Society of Maritime Lawyers and our attorneys’ activities include membership at the Legal Committee of the Union of Greek Shipowners, the Greek Maritime Law Association and WISTA. It is therefore for its active participation and considerable expertise in all aspects of shipping law that K. Konnidas and Associates Law Firm has acted for shipowners, international law firms, Hull and Machinery insurers, bunkers’ suppliers and other reputable clients in the shipping market in issues connected with charterparties (time, voyage, demise), cargo claims, bunkers’ supply, pollution, salvage, actual total loss and constructive total loss. We have also been involved in disputes regarding collection of premia and represented successfully Clubs before or out of Courts in a number of cases of insurance compensation. Ιnsurance and re-insurance contracts and contracts for bunkers’ supply and letters of undertaking form also part of our services.

We have a dynamic litigation presence before the Greek Courts in all procedures applicable to above disputes, including summary proceedings, arrest, enforcement and auction proceedings, and have represented our clients in international arbitration proceedings, whereas mediation services can also be offered, as one of our members is an accredited mediator.

Our firm has been has been traditionally involved in cases of marine labour claims, in representing before the Courts or assisting owners or their P&I Clubs in defending claims usually based on alleged overtime work, illness or accidents, as well as in negotiating and achieving out-of-Court settlements.

A significant aspect of our expertise in shipping law includes a number of contracts for the construction and acquisition of newbuildings from Korean, Japanese and Chinese yards, as well as for the sale and purchase of second-hand vessels, through which we came across several legal issues and implications which were successfully solved. Furthermore, we have been involved in the negotiations and preparation of the agreements for the financing of these projects, ships mortgages and ships’ registration and all issues connected therewith.
Our practice in maritime law includes also the incorporation and servicing of maritime companies (Greek or foreign, such as Liberian, Marshall Islands, Panamanian, Cypriot or others) and advice on issues concerning taxation of same.
